Our guide to the biggest local gigs this Christmas
Here is our guide to some of the biggest local gigs taking place over the festive period. All the gigs below promise to be full of festive frolics!
Firstly get yourself along to ‘The Glendale Family Presents… Their Debut Single Launch‘. The gig takes place on Thursday 20th December at Telford’s Warehouse in Chester.
Apart from a chance to launch their single, the gig is also billed as a “celebration of the end of the Mayan Calender”. Whatever the reason for the gig we are sure there will be plenty of festive spirit flowing.
We were present at one of the first ever Glendale Family gigs (in Telford’s) and strongly recommend their traditional folk with a modern twist.
They will be joined by some huge local names including Heal The Last Stand, Andy Hickie and Meilir. The fun starts at 8pm and best of all entry is free!
The following weekend promises to be a busy one with both Central Station‘s first big local gig of the festive period taking place and The Wrexham Supporters Trust holding their Christmas Party at The Cent.
On Saturday December 22nd The Scene headline the trust’s event. They will be joined by Gareth Owen performing live on the night. Tickets cost £10 and include some grubbins. They are available now from the WST shop.
On the Sunday night (23rd December) Central Station hold their ‘Christmas Kick Off’ event. This beast of an event includes 3 rooms of live music from some of the regions best bands including (get ready for it…) Danny Gruff and the Peacemakers, Bring the Soul, Doppelganger, Orient Machine, Leo’s Hide, Deaf Club, The Revolutionary Spirit, Mowbird, Baby Brave & the Love Bites, The Uninvited, Sexx Boxx, The Maydays, Seer and Shoot The Rabbit (…and breathe).
Tickets are available now from the usual sources and cost £5 in advance.
Mother of Six present their brilliantly named ‘Yule Tide Space Ride‘ on Christmas Eve at The Commercial. Entry is free.
After a break for some turkey this is followed on 26th December by Central Station’s ‘Boxing Day bash’. Tickets for this event cost £5 and feature performances by Nemonix, FOE, The Fag Machine, JKLMNO, Portlights and The Scene.
Friday 28th December sees Shy and the Fight return to Telford’s Warehouse in Chester. Entry is free before 9pm and £4 after.
On Saturday December 29th Cygnini Music present their Christmas Charity show. All profits from the event go to Nightingale House Hospice (so show your support!). The lineup includes King of the Juice, Wonderlust, Gintis, The Fag Machine, Turnstone and Leo and Harvey (acoustic). The event starts at 7pm and Gintis are asking for fans to pick their set. More details via the link above.
We have almost certainly missed out loads of gigs from our list but these are the ones that really stand out as being (sorry about this) Christmas crackers. Enjoy planning your festive period!
