Max Cavalera and his Soulfly cohorts have announced a batch of UK shows next month to coincide with the release of their seventh studio album, ‘Omen’ which hits stores on 24th May. As part of the tour they will be visiting Wrexham’s Central Station on Friday 21st May.
‘Omen’, by far the band’s most ‘in your face’, punk leaning album, follows 2008’s return-to-form ‘Conquer’, which enjoyed substantial critical reception. Kerrang! hailed Conquer as “packed with enough invention, aggression and sheer quality tunes to make most other metal bands blush”, while US music bible, Alternative Press rated the album 4.5 out of 5, deeming it “a furious, sonically adventurous metal disc…awesome”.
In true Soulfly tradition, ‘Omen’ features a few notable guest appearances. Of the collaborations, Cavalera said; “The first one is a song with Tommy Victor from Prong sharing vocals on a song called ‘Lethal Injection.’ The other is ‘Rise of the Fallen,’ with shared vocals from Greg Puciato, Dillinger Escape Plan’s singer. I also recorded two B-sides with both of my sons playing drums. Igor Cavalera plays on Exel’s ‘Your Life, My Life,’ and Zyon Cavalera plays on Sepultura’s ‘Refuse/Resist’.”
Tickets are available to purchase now priced £15, available Central Station or online at seetickets.com.
Watch out for an exclusive interview with the band from WM’s Chris Spann following the gig.
