Polly Mackey
Having reached the finals of last year’s Make It Break It Songwriting Awards, Polly Mackey has just gone one better by winning this year’s award!
A panel of industry judges which included Coldplay’s Chris Martin chose Polly’s “The Way It Works” as this year’s winning song.
Judge Marsha Shandur of XFM Radio commented “I definitely want to keep an eye on Polly… I think she is a great talent and I’ll be very interested to see how she develops” whilst Record Producer Steve Levine (The Clash, XTC) had just one word for the song “SUPERB!”
Polly and her band, The Pleasure Principle, will now get to attend a 5-day Music Academy at Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts(LIPA) in addition to a recording session and A&R meetings at EMI’s London studios.
On Saturday 31st October, Polly and the boys will perform at the official Make It Break It Awards Ceremony at the world famous Paul McCartney auditorium at LIPA to an audience of music industry professionals which will include record publishers and labels including EMI, judges and press.
Excellent work indeed.

Whoa! Well done Polly. I know you said you’d see how the year went before deciding on your career. The decision must be getting easier by the month!
