Oxjam (Oxfam’s music making, cash raising arm) are attempting to make a bigger impact in Wales by promoting the charity and local talent and to do this they have enlisted the help of 2 big local bands and two primarily Welsh-language acts.
Oxjam presents ‘Wenglish’ is taking place on Sunday 11th October at Central Station in Wrexham and includes Camera, The Roseville Band, Daniel Lloyd and Dan Amor.
For those who aren’t aware of the Welsh language speaking talents at the show, here’s the lowdown:
Daniel Lloyd
Daniel is a very talented songwriter and guitarist and comes from Rhos, near Wrexham. Many of you may know him from his debut album with Mr. Pinc ‘Goleuadau Llundain’ which was a big seller and reached no. 4 on the Welsh charts. Dan has gone solo for this album to release the excellent ‘Tro Ar Fyd’ which went one better reaching no. 3 only a few weeks ago, and is certain to build on his already admirable success. Daniel is a great live performer who has performed on TV and Radio many times. You will be in for a treat as he has kindly agreed to travel in from Denbigh to play a special set just for Oxjam!. You can buy ‘Tro Ar Fyd’ and more from iTunes and from www.sainwales.com and find out more about him here: www.myspace.com/officialdaniellloyd
Dan Amor
Dan lives near Betwys-Y-Coed will be performing an acoustic set on the night. Dan has fans in high places indeed; he was personally invited by Billy Bragg to support him at his gig in Caernarfon in June this year and has even had his songs played by the late, great, John Peel. He plays melodic Neil Finn-like songs. Great songs like the new ‘Trysor Glas’ are to be expected. Download ‘Trysor Glas’ for free via this link: www.museumwales.ac.uk/en/music09/respond/danamor/
