La Roux NME Radar Tour

The NME’s annual showcase of new music the NME ‘Radar Tour’ will be paying a visit to Central Station in Wrexham on Friday 1st May. The tour which has in the past given a hefty leg up to the likes of Crystal Castles, White Lies and Friendly Fires features a monster line up this year and will be headlined by the most inscrutable and mysterious of the current wave of female electro acts, South London’s La Roux – French for ‘red-haired one’.

La Roux has recently transcended the ‘next big thing’ buzz and actually scored a bona fide hit, in the form of ‘In For The Kill’, which reached Number 2 in UK Singles Charts. She is currently supporting Lily Allen on her UK tour before heading off on the NME Radar Tour.

The 80’s inspired songstress will be joined by everyone’s favourite disco titans Heartbreak. Heartbreak comprise Argentinian-born singer Sebastian Muravchix and British/French keyboardist Ali Renault. Christened ‘metallo’, a fusion of metal and Italian disco, the pair have already supported Aussie duo The Presets and 2008 Mercury Music Prize nominees Neon Neon.

Saviours of the indie dance floor Magistrates combine funky falsetto vocals with pounding, dark-hued atmospherics, the band are currently winning new converts aplenty as main support act on Jack Penate’s UK tour.

Teeside’s grizzliest new quartet The Chapman Family have already supported the likes of We Are Scientists, 80s Matchbox B-Line Disaster and Future Of The Left, Stockton On Tees’ The Chapman Family should be a well-oiled live machine by the time they join the Radar tour.

The NME’s New Music Editor Jaimie Hodgson said,
“I really don’t think we could have asked for a better line-up, and one that more succinctly sums up the breaking artists already making 2009 a truly ridiculous year for great music. It will be the best new music tour of the year, no doubt.”

Tickets are £9.50 advance, doors are 7.30pm and over 14’s welcome. Tickets are available from Yales Café Bar, Wrexham – 01978 358780 or seetickets.com.
