The annual Llangollen Fringe Festival has come round again and since it’s inception in 1987 has grown from a lonely tent in a field to a thriving multi-event incorporating many arts, entertainments and a celebration of local talent.
This year three of Scotland’s most successful young musicians unite for this special trio album of newly written, contemporary folk and live concert tour. Kris Drever, John McCusker and Roddy Woomble have distinguished pedigrees ranging freely across the folk and rock spectrum – and overlapping via several previous projects – each brings a wealth of diverse experience to the table, in a collaboration impelled primarily by that most magical of musical catalysts: pure enthusiasm.
Kris Drever is an award winning, highly acclaimed solo artist and member of the explosive anarchic and award winning-folk trio LAU. A stunning guitarist and singer, he shares vocal duties with Roddy in this trio.
John McCusker needs no introduction – the successful artist / producer and arranger has appeared on records by the likes of Kate Rusby, Eddi Reader and many more, having released his own albums to both critical and commercial success. John has been nominated for ‘Musician of the Year in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2009.
Roddy Woomble is the trio’s lead singer, shares the writing with Drever and McCusker. Already known to many hundreds of thousands as the vocalist in Idlewild. He has sold more than half a million albums and his hugely acclaimed folk solo debut ‘My Secret Is My Silence’ continues to find new fans two years after it’s release.
Drever McCusker Woomble plus guests Heidi Talbot and Boo Hewerdine appear live at The Llangollen Fringe Festival at the Llangollen Town Hall on Monday 20th July.
Tickets are £15 available from www.llangollenfringe.co.uk and the Fringe Box Office: 0800 046 7665. Doors are 7pm.
