It’s not often that an international band handpicks a band from Wrexham to support them on their UK tour. That’s exactly what Canadian based indie band Born Ruffians have done when they asked Wrexham’s Gallops! to support them. Never heard of Born Ruffian’s?… Check our their bio below.

Gallops! were contacted a few weeks ago by Warp Records (Born Ruffian’s record label) as the band had heard the Gallops! track ‘Lasers’ on the BBC Radio 1 Huw Stephens show and insisted they have them onboard.

Born Ruffian’s Bio
Come September Born Ruffians are back with their first UK headline tour and an EP & 12″ release to consolidate their success so far in 2008, which has seen the drop of their accomplished debut album ‘Red, Yellow & Blue’. Let’s not forget this is the same band who in the last eight months has achieved extensive Radio 1 plays – 30 spot plays! inc. two Colin Murray ‘Record of the Week’’s, two 6 music sessions, two XFM sessions which all happened before their appearance on ‘Skins’ (only the 2nd band ever to appear on the show) and huge Orange ad synch, and 8000 single sales to date of last single release ‘Hummingbird’, which has all helped to build up what is now a considerable fan base.

On embarking on Born Ruffians’ first headline tour Luke had this to say: “I’m getting ramped up to get back on the road. The UK is the best place for us to start. People always get drunk which means they have more fun. Not to say they’re alcoholics or anything, they share a kindred spirit with Canadians in that they like to be shit faced a lot. I hope to not only have a beer but also some confusing conversations over loud music with Scottish people where I have to pretend I can understand them. Mitch, Steve and I are excited to play some new songs, and new cities.”
