Gallops to headline University Summer Ball
Gallops performing at the Big Weekend
Wrexham’s Gallops – local heroes of the Introducing Stage at the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend – are to perform a headline gig in town this Friday.
The band will play at Glyndŵr University’s first ever Summer Ball, from 6pm. They will be joined by three other bands – FOE, Good Captain and No Room for Heroes.
A DJ set from Pablo Minki and dance acts from Bollywood Dancers Street Dance Troop are also included in the line-up for the event, which takes place on the University’s Wrexham campus.
Matthew Hart, president of the Glyndŵr University Students’ Guild, said:
“We’re proud to have secured Gallops to headline what promises to be a spectacular event.”
Gallops recent appearance at the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend alongside the likes of Kasabian, the Prodigy and Franz Ferdinand, followed a series of rave reviews. Their music has been described by BBC Radio Wales DJ Adam Walton as “impossible to sum up in a soundbite – too fresh, compulsive and inventive. It’s cyborg soul music,” with NME.com summing them up as “digital math rockers – the town’s silver lining.”
Tickets for Friday’s event are £8 each or £5 each when bought in groups of 10. Children are welcome until 9pm, and admission for children is free with a paying adult.
