by Ben Davis on 14 April, 2009 | 3 comments

Wrexham’s very own Gallops have been added to the line-up of BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend festival which is taking place in Swindon on 9th – 10th May.

The huge festival is the largest free ticketed event in Europe with 40 000 revellers attending over the weekend and over 500 000 people applying for tickets. It’s organised by BBC Radio 1 every year at different locations around the country, previously being at Maidstone and Preston. There are 3 stages in total, all under one extremely large pavillion tent – the ‘Main Stage’, ‘In New Music We Trust’ and on Sunday 10th at 6:20pm Gallops will be playing 2nd to headline on the ‘BBC Introducing’ stage.

The Main Stage line-up was announced last week by Zane Lowe and Chris Moyles and it includes some big name acts; Kasabian, Snow Patrol, Doves, Maximo Park, Franz Ferdinand, White Lies and Friendly Fires amongst others.

The BBC Introducing show was announced tonight by Huw Stephens on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show.
