In a week of big gig announcements we can add another one to the list – Newport band Feeder are to play the first major gig in a long while at Wrexham’s newly named Glyndŵr University.

Feeder recently appeared on the main stage at this year’s Reading and Leeds Festival and will play in the William Aston Hall at Glyndŵr University on Wednesday 1st October 2008.

Matthew Hart, president of Glyndŵr University’s Students’ Guild, said:
“Feeder are one of the biggest bands around so to have the chance to see them play at the university is fantastic.

“They’ll be playing at the start of a new term, so it’ll be a great chance for new students – as well as the local public – to catch some live music on campus.

“It’s an exciting time for the university and I’m sure Feeder’s gig is just the start of something big in attracting famous bands to play here.”

Previous bands to have played Williams Aston Hall include; Love with Arthur Lee, Super Furry Animals and Ray Davies.

Tickets will go on sale priced £19.50 this Friday 5th September.

They are available online at www.glyndwr.ac.uk/feeder or in person from the Plas Coch Sports Centre, open daily from 8am to 10pm or from HMV, Island Green.

Doors open at 7pm, with support band The Daves on stage at 8.30pm. The gig is open to over 16s only.

Feeder (formerly known as Sweet Leaf) formed in Newport, South Wales in 1992 by singer/songwriter/guitarist Grant Nicholas and drummer/guitarist Jon Lee. Although the bands early styles were associated with Kerrang! magazine, Feeder have also incorporated styles of indie and piano based rock into their sound, including the use of Moog synthesizers.
