Polly Mackey & the Pleasure Principle

Remember me telling you about the adventures of Polly Mackey & the Pleasure Principle during their SXSW Music Festival trip to Texas earlier this year? Let me remind you quickly – they played a remarkable 9 gigs during the event and finished up being one of the most talked about bands of the festival. Well, within a matter of days before the closing date for entries for the SXSW 2010 Festival, Polly and the lads have been invited back next year.

In other Polly & PP news, the band are playing the Zanzibar in tonight (20th Nov) and then they are taking part in Theatr Clwyd’s ‘Write to Rock’ project this weekend.

It’s an experimental project by the Theatr Clwyd which pair’s local musician’s with playwright’s to create new work in just one week. There will be 4 bands (Polly, KCO, Face of Christ and Louise Greener) pairing with 4 playwrights and they will then join forces with actors and theatre directors for a week in Llangollen in order to produce a new piece of work – be it a script with music or using existing song lyrics as the basis of a play.

The culmination of the 7 days worth of creativity will then be showcased on Saturday 28th November in the theatre where the audience will vote for an overall winner. Tickets for the final gig are £8 and you can get them from www.writetorock.co.uk. Sounds like an exciting new idea, lets hope it turns out well.

Following a busy few months, including numerous gigs before Christmas (including the WM Spruce!), Polly and the boys will be heading into the EMI studios in London for a recording session.
