In what is becoming a week of national media interest for Wrexham’s Gallops!, it now appears that the BBC are joining in with the praise – they just don’t want to be left out.

Newsbeat (the BBC Radio 1 news people) have posted a news item on their website listing Gallops! in their top 10 favourite bands of the Sŵn Festival last weekend with a short blurb for each band. That’s their top 10 bands out of the 150 acts who played over the weekend!

Here is what they have to say about Gallops!:

“It’s not just their equine referencing moniker that Wrexham’s Gallops! share with a band like Foals.”

“A shared love of sonic experimenters Battles, Don Caballerro and Pivot is hugely apparent. Yet their sound is all their own. In the disorientating surroundings of a wine bar their furious, raw, motorised computer-led crank-rock proves extremely potent.”

I’m betting an article in the NME will be next. Just watch this space…

  1. That’s a fuckin brilliant ‘top 10’ to be a part of, listed alongside Amazing Baby!!

I’d prefer it if someone like Plan B cottoned onto Gallops! before NME did, don’t want some bizarre ‘nu-space’ movement coming out of it, although it would be quite amusing!

  2. Well done lads!

  3. i’m not sure Plan B has quite the same distribution power or readers as the NME, but i know what you mean.

  4. a magazine from brazil i think cottoned onto them first so no worries there

  5. Props to Paul for getting his photos used by Drowned in Sound on their Swn review!

  6. cheers, just a shame they only used the pictures of bands that are reviewed, makes sense i know but still…

  7. I’ve heard that my NME prediction maybe coming true (in a way)…
