Sam Jones, guitarist with Wrexham band Leaving Isaacs Shop is also a student at North Wales School of Art and Design in Wrexham. He has jointly won the Music Media Award at this year’s student moving image festival of Wales, Ffresh 2008.

Sam’s winning entry is a promotional trilogy for Leaving Isaac’s Shop filmed to promote the band to music publishers.

The category judge, Radio One DJ Huw Stephens, said: “This is an excellent video that is stylish and powerful and captures the mood of the band.”

Sam was also shortlisted for another entry, a fun drum sequence called Drum Film.

Huw said this was funny, simple and effective. “The colours were great and it brings a smile,” he added.

“Overall the standard was high, the videos a pleasure to watch, a lot with original ideas and a clear vision.”

Judges at the two-day festival gave awards to students from Wrexham Cardiff, Newport and Lampeter.
